When I first started [full-time study](https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexadavis/2014/07/10/6-ways-to-cut-the-costs-of-your-study-abroad-program/#58e83f0eec32) at Monash University, I was a bright-eyed first year university student that was ready to work towards a career field that I was passionate about. Of course, isn’t this always the way that the story goes? After all, who puts themselves through three years minimum of a degree if they are not passionate or otherwise drawn to the field that they are going to be studying? My first year was a dream. I was thriving in my classes, I loved all the content being covered, and I was learning so much. And then I hit a wall, and I was unsure how to get around it.

I was unsure how to continue studying when I was getting restless to start seeing the world. I wanted the best of all worlds, and I was unsure if it was even possible. This is where Monash really stepped up and went above and beyond (and it is always why I only ever speak the highest about Monash University). Thankfully, when I saw my guidance counsellor, they sat me down and told me that I had many options available to me. We went through them all, I took some time to think about it and get advice from my family and friends, and then it all made sense. Every step of the way, Monash University had my back.
